The Reductors are an indie rock band from Perth, Western Australia known for their melodic, retro-inspired songs, poignant lyrical themes, and entertaining live shows.
Reflecting a range of alternative and post-punk influences (including The Smiths, The Kinks, The Velvet Underground, Richard Hell) their music is characterised by an infectious blend of melodic hooks and guitar riffs.
Lyrically, their songs are playful and poetic, typically comprising character studies and observations on society, delivered with a blend of humour, pathos and irony.
The band, made up of Luke Nixon (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Aidan Gordon (lead guitar, backing vocals), Gareth Bevan (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Erin Gordon (drums), has wide experience recording and playing live at venues and festivals. The music and lyrics of the band\’s original songs are written by Nixon, whose material has been aired on national and local radio stations including JJJ and RTRFM.
The Reductors play regular gigs around Perth and Fremantle. In between live shows, the band have recently recorded their debut album, due for release in October 2017. Recorded at Poons Head Studio in Fremantle, the album was produced by Rob Grant (Tame Impala, Lenny Kravitz, Death Cab For Cutie).
