Pop Opera–Contemporary singer-songwriter Clara Helms has established herself as one of Perth’s most sought-after talents, with Prime Ministers, Governor, fashionistas and the city’s corporate elite among the thousands of Western Australians to have been moved by Clara’s pure soprano voice. Clara has graced stages including Il Divo’s Opening Act in King’s Park, Headline Entertainment on luxury Cruise Ships and titled “The Voice of an Angel” and as a Finalist on Channel 7’s “Australia’s Got Talent”. Sensational W.A.A.P.A graduate, Clara Helms, is graceful, talented and reliable. She is passionate and hardworking and has a captivatingly strong stage presence and charisma singing music genres from pop opera to musical theatre, jazz to contemporary as well as her own originals. Clara Helms dazzles with a brilliant, emotive, pure soprano voice, charm and talent that is truly supreme! Clara first became passionate about performing after commencing extensive dance training at 3 years old and later receiving Honours for her Teachers Certificate in Classical Ballet. She is trained in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Ballroom, Character, Contemporary and Argentine Tango. 2015 has seen Clara travelling overseas as a Solo Headline performer on numerous luxury cruise ships in the Asia Pacific, New Zealand and Australian waters. However, her greatest achievement to date is completing her self-titled Debut EP, consisting of three originals (lyrics and melody 100% by Clara Helms) and a cover of the beautiful Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. The first track, ‘Who Am I’ is perfectly infused with w pulsing dance style undertone and a sensual contemporary ballad mixed with a glass shattering high vocal cadenza, think the 5th Element Song. The second track, a very profound piece ‘It’s Over’, is an empowering Anti Cyber Bullying song which was inspired earlier this year after a man threatened to kill her! Clara offers, “It’s a very powerful song but also empowering and enlightening, with the aim of raising awareness of the trauma associated with Cyber Bullying.” One of Clara’s other originals is titled “Inspirational” and dedicated to dear friend and iconic Perth Fashion designer, Ruth Tarvydas who tragically passed away earlier this year. 2014 finished with a bang with Clara headlining at the exclusive One&Only Hayman Island Resort New Years Eve Party and a successful Asia debut in Singapore as the headline singer for the Marina Bay Sands Christmas Lights Up Event, Hosted by David Beckham while on the cusp of releasing her Debut Original Single direct from the studio early in 2015. Clara’s strengths as an entertainer continue to grow and shine as her audiences cheer “That is the best I have ever heard” while singing at the Damper Port Authority 25yr Anniversary Gala in Karratha. Clara opened this year’s Downton Abbey inspired PMH Bear By Night Ball at Government House Gardens as well as performing on Channel 7’s Telethon and many other exclusive corporate functions around town including AHA, AMA, AICD, UDIA etc. Clara recently commenced performing overseas as the Headline Entertainment on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Princess Cruise Ships. Clara also landed the lead role in the brilliant 1940’s short film, ‘Letter to Hunt’, later in the year the lead in short film ‘Homecoming’, a featured role in webseries ‘AshBecLee’ and the lead in an interactive homeware device VC. In April 2014 Clara Helms, as Founder and Ambassador, launched her Belief Beyond Bullies foundation to increase self-empowerment of individuals whose future emotional development and careers are being thwarted by bullying. Clara wishes to inspire and help those affected by bullying by shining a light and helping others find their passion for life. 2013 started off with a bang as Clara was honoured to be invited back to sing at the Government House Australia Day Luncheon for the esteemed Governor and his distinguished guests. Clara was also the main entertainment and guest for the exclusive Hon. Tony Abbott – Federal Election Gala Liberal Party Dinner on Wednesday 3rd July 2013 at the Perth Crown Ballroom along with 1,200 distinguished guest and, thanks to popular demand, Clara was invited back to sing for the Hon. John Howard at the Liberal Gala Dinner on Wednesday 28th August at the Hyatt Ballroom. Clara was also the main solo headlining act at a Heal The World Charity Concert at the Perth Heath Ledger Theatre in October, the main entertainment for the WA Tourism Awards, the Weld Club’s Fathers, Sons & Daughters Dinner and the Rosendorff Christmas party while dressed in over half a million dollars’ worth of diamonds and many more. Clara has also been performing at numerous other corporate functions, Including in the Northern Western Australian town of Karratha for a major Business Gala Awards night as well as singing and a guest co-hosting presenter on 107.9 Fremantle Radio and on the Italian World Radio 6EBA-FM 95.3. Clara was also a supporting lead actress in Western Australian feature film thriller, “Foreshadow” where she played the role of Susie, a featured extra in feature film ‘The Reckoning’ and main actor in Nez Erok’s musical video ‘Beautiful’. In 2012 Clara performed twice at the illustrious Government House for the W.A. Award of the Year and the Governor’s Australia Day Luncheon, at the prestigious Variety Ball in February 2012 at the Royal Perth Yacht Club, and was the 45 min support act at the IL DIVO concert in Kings Park in February. Clara also performed the National Anthem for the Grand Finals at Gloucester Park on March 2nd 2012,numerous times for the Wildcats, Australian Rugby Wallabies VS Sprinkboks at Paterson Stadium and Challenge Stadium. Clara entertained at the Boobalicious Ball, held a highly successful ‘Clara Helms Dinner Concert’ at Bluewater Grill in September and was the main feature entertainment at Rottnest Lodge Leeuwin Estate Dinner. In November she was the feature for Tarvydas Fashion Friday at the Hilton, the main entertainment at the Annual Italian Night at Gloucester Park and the opening act at Ronald McDonald Mercedes-Benz Ball at the Crown and the guest entertainment at the Gold Bars Gold Christmas Party. In 2011 Clara performed two outstanding Classical Valentines concerts, “A Romantic Getaway Concerts”, did a fantastic Gershwin & Cole Porter concert at Mosmans restaurant in May and a spectacular 45min concert at Friends restaurant in June. She also performed a two hour one woman show, “Sweet Subtlety and Sexual Seduction” at The Ellington Jazz Club in September, and was a performer on Channel 7’s Telethon 2011 on Sunday 16th October. Clara has been involved in eight short films since 2010 as well as playing the character of Julia in the play “Zastrozzi” in March 2011. She has been in a commercial for FRIENDS restaurant as well as Spokesmodelling for a Real Estate Home Movie, interviewed on WTV as well as numerous times on Channel 7’s Today Tonight. In 2010 Clara studied modern languages, (Italian, German and French) at the University of Western Australia. She was a lead in the musical premier ‘The Last Maharajah’ and in the Western Australian premier of the musical “NINE” playing the famous movie star, Claudia Nardi and starred in four short films and won the competition section of a hair/beauty/fashion show. In 2009 she received a Bachelor of Music in Classical Singing-W.A.A.P.A. and won the Classical Open Section of the Fremantle Eisteddfods. In 2008 Clara was asked to attend a 2 week masterclass with international vocal coach Neil Semer in Coesfeld, Germany and later that year she spent 3 months studying Italian in Florence, Italy. In 2005 and 2006 Clara performed in two Summers Operas in Sydney, “Loves Lessons Learnt” and “Carmen-the Musical” and received her Grade 8 Performance Certificate in Speech & Drama from Trinity College London. Clara, in participation with the Perth Rotary Club, has also been raising money to support those affected by the QLD floods by holding a number of small concerts. She also recently organized a major Fire Relief Concert for her childhood home town of Roleystone in April 2011, raising $10,035.
